صَدَقَةٌ جَارِيَةٌ An ongoing charity

Help us build a permanent home in Mudgee.

Every dollar goes directly toward the prayer hall, the classroom, and the iftars we share with the wider Mudgee community.

Why we are raising

From living rooms to a place of our own.

Mudgee's Muslim families have prayed in living rooms, hired halls, and borrowed spaces for years. A permanent centre means a place to call our own. Somewhere children grow up knowing where their mosque is, where new arrivals find familiar faces, and where our neighbours are always welcome to visit.

The build fund pays for the building, the fit-out, and the first year of running costs. After that, ongoing donations keep the lights on, the kettle warm, and the doors open.

A note on sadaqah jariyah

Building a place of worship is a classic example of sadaqah jariyah — an ongoing charity that keeps giving long after the gift is made.

Every prayer offered, every child taught, and every neighbour welcomed in the new centre carries the donor's intention with it.

Donations FAQ

Quiet questions, plainly answered.

Is my donation tax-deductible?
Once our DGR status is confirmed, donations of $2 or more will be tax-deductible. We will email you a receipt either way, so you have a record from day one.
Can I give zakat?
Yes. We collect zakat through a separate fund and use it only where religiously appropriate, in line with traditional rulings. See the zakat page for details.
Where will the new centre be built?
The committee is reviewing several sites in central Mudgee. We will let donors know as soon as a site is confirmed.
Can I give in person?
Yes. Email info@mudgeeislamiccommunity.org to arrange a time. We accept cash and cheque, and we issue a written receipt on the spot.
Can I set up a monthly gift?
Yes. Donorbox lets you choose a monthly amount when you donate. You can change or cancel any time from the receipt email.
Who decides how the money is spent?
A volunteer committee, with two signatories required for any payment over $1,000. An independent auditor reviews the annual accounts and we publish them through our financial policy.
More than money

Time, hands, and a kind word also count.

If a financial gift is not the right fit just now, there are other ways you can move the centre forward. Two hours a year is plenty.

Or simply tell a friend — a quiet recommendation goes a long way in a small town.
