Hero

Title. Sadaqah
Lede. Small, steady, voluntary giving. Easier on your wallet, more reliable for the centre.

What sadaqah is

Sadaqah is voluntary giving, beyond the obligatory zakat. The Quran and the Prophetic tradition describe it warmly: a smile, a kind word, even removing a hazard from a path. In practice, most of us think of sadaqah as the small, regular money we give whenever we can.

Monthly sadaqah is the form that helps the centre most. It lets us plan: which programs to run next term, how much to set aside for the welfare fund, when to top up the children's library.

Where monthly sadaqah goes

Monthly sadaqah supports the everyday work of the centre:

  • Programs. Quran classes, adult learning, women's circle, youth, open days.
  • Welfare support. Help with halal groceries, school costs, utility bills for families in hardship.
  • Operations. Tea and biscuits, photocopying, room hire, insurance.

It does not go to the build fund, which has its own dedicated build fund page.

Set up monthly giving

Most monthly donors give between $5 and $50. Whatever you choose, you can change the amount or cancel any time.

  • $5 a month (a coffee a week)
  • $20 a month (a Saturday Quran class)
  • $50 a month (one program session)
  • $100 a month (one community iftar)

In the meantime, please email info@mudgeeislamiccommunity.org to give by bank transfer.

One-off sadaqah

A single gift is also welcome. Use the donate page and choose any amount.

Other ways to give

  • Bank transfer. Email hello@micc.org.au and we will send you account details. Mark your transfer "sadaqah" so it goes to the right fund.
  • Coin jar at the centre. A small physical jar at every Friday prayer and open day. All proceeds go to the welfare fund.

Trust and review

The committee reviews sadaqah-fund spending quarterly. An independent auditor reviews the annual accounts. We publish totals in our financial policy.

A few common questions

Is my sadaqah tax-deductible?
Once our DGR status is confirmed, donations of $2 or more will be tax-deductible. Sadaqah's spiritual value does not depend on tax status; the receipt is just a paperwork bonus.

Can I give sadaqah on behalf of someone else?
Yes. Many people give sadaqah jariyah (ongoing charity) on behalf of a parent or loved one who has passed. Tell us their name in the message field and we will pray for them at the next Jumu'ah.

Can I cancel my monthly gift?
Any time. There is no penalty, no awkward email, no campaign to win you back. We are grateful for whatever you have already given.

Can I give in cash anonymously?
Yes. Drop something in the coin jar at any Friday prayer or open day. We will not ask, and we will not record.
