A small, growing community on Wiradjuri Country.
Mudgee's Muslim community is small but growing. Until now, there has been no local place to gather, pray, or learn together. We are changing that, one quiet step at a time.
Families and friends, with a wide bench.
We are families and friends who pray, work, and raise children in Mudgee and the wider Mid-Western region. Some of us were born here. Others moved from Sydney, regional NSW, or much further afield to take up jobs in healthcare, agriculture, mining, and small business.
The Mudgee Islamic Community Centre exists to serve this community and to welcome the wider region. We hold daily prayers, run weekend Quran classes for children, share iftars during Ramadan, and work with local schools and councils on open days and interfaith events.
You do not need to be Muslim to visit. The doors are open to neighbours, friends, and the curious.
Prayer, learning, and welcome.
The centre is a place where children meet their cultural heritage with calm pride, adults study quietly, and new arrivals to Mudgee find familiar faces.
Prayer
Five daily prayers and Friday Jumu'ah. Quiet, unhurried, anchored to Mudgee's own coordinates.
Learning
Children's Quran classes, adult study circles, and a beginners' Islam course for the curious.
Welcome
Open days, shared iftars, and a kettle that's always on. Hospitality, not conversion.
وَجَعَلْنَاكُمْ شُعُوبًا وَقَبَائِلَ لِتَعَارَفُوا
“We made you peoples and tribes, that you may know one another.”
— Qur'an 49:13
From living rooms to a future home.
Dates and details are placeholder, pending committee confirmation.
-
The early gatherings
A handful of Mudgee Muslim families begin meeting for Friday prayer in living rooms and community halls. The drive to the nearest mosque, in Bathurst, is too long for most working parents to manage every week.
-
First regular Jumu'ah
A hired room in central Mudgee becomes the home of a weekly Friday prayer. Word spreads. Families travel in from Gulgong, Mudgee, and the surrounding farms.
-
Charity registered
MICC is formally established as a registered charity. The first open day attracts local councillors and Wiradjuri elders.

Build fund opens
With a growing community and an unmet need, the centre launches a public appeal for a permanent home in Mudgee.
Volunteers, all of us.
Our committee is made of local Mudgee families who volunteer their time. Names, photos, and short bios will appear here once each member confirms they are happy to be public.
Committee bios pending.
We are guests on this land.
We acknowledge the Wiradjuri people, the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we gather, and pay our respects to Elders past, present, and emerging.
Wiradjuri sovereignty was never ceded. We share Mudgee with people who have cared for this Country far longer than any of us. Their welcome to this land shapes how we welcome others to ours.

Every dollar goes directly toward the prayer hall, the classroom, and the iftars we share with the wider Mudgee community. Whether you give once, give monthly, or give your time, you move us closer.
Other ways to help.
- Pray with us. Jumu'ah at 1:15 pm every Friday. All welcome.
- Volunteer. Two hours a year is plenty. We will find a fit.
- Partner. Schools, councils, businesses, and faith communities welcome.
- Spread the word. A quiet recommendation goes a long way in a small town.
