Lede. Moving to a small town with a young family is hard. Doing it as a Muslim family in regional NSW can feel harder. We are here to help.
What we can help with
We have moved here too, so we know the small things that matter. We can help with:
- Housing. Local rental contacts, advice on which suburbs work for school runs, and a friendly call to your prospective landlord if helpful.
- Schools. Honest notes on the local primary and high schools, including how each has handled Muslim students. Introductions to school staff where useful.
- Halal food. Where to buy halal meat, the closest supermarket with a decent range, and the wholesalers who deliver from Sydney monthly.
- Healthcare. GPs and dentists in town who are warm and culturally competent.
- Community. A first cup of tea with another Muslim family, an invitation to a women's circle or youth night, and a familiar face at your first Friday prayer.

A few common questions
My family does not speak much English. Can you still help?
Yes. Several of our community members speak Arabic, Urdu, Bengali, Indonesian, Malay, and Bahasa. Tell us your language in your email and we will pair you with someone who shares it.
My partner is Muslim and I am not. Are we welcome?
Absolutely. Mixed-faith families are part of our community. The same is true for converts and reverts.
We are leaving Mudgee. Will you help us land somewhere else?
Yes. We have contacts in many regional Australian Muslim communities and in Sydney. Email us and we will introduce you.
