Title. Adult learning
Lede. Quranic Arabic, Tafsir, and a beginners' Islam course, on Sunday afternoons.
What this is
A small, friendly weekly study circle for adults. Three streams run on rotation:
- Quranic Arabic. Reading, basic grammar, and short verses. Suitable for adults who have never read Arabic, or who learnt as children and want a refresher.
- Tafsir. Slow study of selected Surahs, in English with reference to classical commentary. Suitable for those who want to understand the Quran more deeply.
- Islam, plainly. A beginners' course for adults curious about Islam, including those new to the tradition and those who grew up in Muslim families but never had a chance to ask questions.
The atmosphere is conversation, not lecture. Questions are welcome, including the difficult ones.
Who it's for
- Adults of any age, Muslim or not.
- Beginners welcome at every session. There is no test, no streaming.
- Anyone considering converting to Islam who wants quiet, unhurried space to learn.
When and where
- When. Sunday afternoons, 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm.
- Where. Email for the current location. We rotate between rooms while we raise funds for a permanent home.
- Term. Each stream runs for six to eight Sundays, then we switch.
Cost
Free. A suggested donation of $5 a session covers tea, books, and printing. We never turn anyone away on cost.

A few common questions
I am not Muslim. Can I attend?
Yes. The "Islam, plainly" stream was designed with you in mind, and curious neighbours are welcome at the other streams too.
I missed the start of a course. Can I still join?
Yes, in most cases. Each session is mostly self-contained. Email us and we will let you know what you missed.
Is there homework?
Optional. Some students enjoy a small piece of reading or vocabulary between sessions; others are happy to just turn up. Both work.
